What The DVO Believes

The Daily Verse Online affirms and celebrates the central tennents of historic Christianity as the revelation of God to man and the only way to a relationship with God.

Statement of Faith

The Daily Verse Online's faith can be summed up in the words of the Nicene Creed. We believe:

In God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. We believe in the Supreme Creator of the universe, who spoke into darkness and created light. We affirm the truths of God's attributes as revealed in Scripture.

--see Genesis 1, Psalm 47, Romans 1:20

In one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God. We affirm the complete truth of the Gospels and their presentation of the propitiary life, death, bodily resurrection and ascension of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe, based on the testimony of Scripture, that Jesus is the one true Son of God, one with the Father and yet a distinct member of the Trinity, reigning with the Father and the Holy Spirit, One God forever. We believe that all humans are by nature sinful, as a product of the Fall, and that all humans need the forgiveness and grace of God. We believe that Jesus' sacrificial death and resurrection forever paid the penalty for the sins of everyone who trusts in Him, and that forgiveness and eternal life is offered through Him to all who believe in Him. Salvation is found only in the name of Jesus, and is by grace alone, through faith, and not by any of our own good works.

--see John 1, John 3:16, Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8

We believe in the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, who reigns coequal and coeternal with God the Father and God the Son, One God- yet three Persons- through the unexplainable mystery of the Trinity. We believe in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of all believers. We believe in the Holy Spirit's role as the Worker of faith and the Sanctifier of the saints; that is, it is the Holy Spirit that enables faith in the human heart, and it is by the power of the Holy Spirit that believers are drawn into a closer relationship with God and are enabled to live out the Christian life.

--see Matthew 28:19, John 6:63, John 14:16-26, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 3:16

Further, we affirm the inerrancy and infallibility of Scripture as the inspired Word of God as the only authoritative source of truth for all mankind.

--see Psalm 119:137-144, 2 Timothy 3:16-17
