ISAIAH 26:8

Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws,we wait for you;
your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.

The Charter of the Church

Isaiah 26:8 is the charter verse of the people of God, a call to a radical God-centered lifestyle of conformity to God's overarching plan for history: to make His Son famous among the nations. This was why He created the world (the heavens declare the glory of God- Psalm 19); this was why He created us (bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth...whom I created for My glory- Isaiah 43:7); this is why Christ came to die for sinners (Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God's truth...so that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy- Romans 15:8); and this was why we were saved (In him we were also chosen...in order that we...might be for the praise of his glory- Ephesians 1:11-12). God's glory is what the universe was created to display, what we were made to see, and what Jesus died to show. Just like a car is made to run on gasoline and won't run properly on anything else, in the same way we were meant to live for God, with God, by God- and satisfaction and joy is found no other place.
